If you’re looking for that real buzz of riding proper dirt bike trails, Australia is home to some of the world’s top spots from one end of the country to the other. At Blygo, we love getting out on the bike as much as anyone, as shown in the fact that I am currently preparing for a cross country motorcycle ride from our home in Melbourne all the way to Queensland. So, with that in mind, we’ve put together this guide to some of the best places to ride no matter where you find yourself. Whether you are breaking in a new bike or heading out for a weekend with your mates, these tracks have something for riders of all levels.
We have focused on places with good facilities and variety so you can actually enjoy the day without worrying too much. And remember, a solid luggage plate makes carrying your gear a lot easier on longer rides. So, especially if you’re planning to be out for quite some time, remember to prepare for whatever may come your way!
Louee Enduro and Motocross, New South Wales
Out in New South Wales, Louee Enduro and Motocross is a huge setup covering more than 10,000 acres with about 150 kilometres of tracks. You could easily spend a full day or more there without riding the same line twice.
The main motocross track runs around 1,500 metres (150km) and has four jumps plus plenty of obstacles to test your bike. There are also special test sections, sprint tracks, a grass track, and rougher terrain for those who like it tough. You might see some cattle or sheep around the place but the tracks are clearly set out for riders.
They have showers, toilets, first aid, bike washing and even parts if you need them. Camping is available which makes it great for a proper trip away.
This is a great option for beginners, with multiple tracks available for novice riders and those who are just getting back into Motocross. So, if you’re just starting out, or you have friends that are excited to begin their dirt biking journey, this is a good introduction.
West Moto Park, Western Australia
West Moto Park in Western Australia suits just about everyone. Beginners can stick to the easier track to build confidence while those on faster bikes can hit the advanced sections with fast straights, tight turns and jumps.
The layout keeps things interesting and really gets the heart pumping. You can camp on site, which means a few days of riding and hanging out with friends. The hot showers at the campground are always welcome after a dusty session.
Things to Note:
Terrain & Tracks: The park spans across beautiful natural bushland and is a perfectly picturesque option for riders of all abilities, from those just starting out to professionals. It features a combination of dedicated riding areas, a 10km Enduro trail, and a variety of motocross-style tracks.
Vehicles Allowed: Dirt bikes, quads, and side-by-sides are all permitted.
No License Needed: Because it is private property, you do not need a driver’s license or vehicle registration to ride.
Rentals & Gear: If you don’t have your own vehicle, the park offers a range of dirt bikes and quads for hire, along with all necessary safety gear.
Motocross Mountain, Queensland
One of the things that makes riding in Australia so rewarding is the wide variety of climates, environments and ecosystems spread across our vast outdoors. On this list, few dirt bike trails show off what the country has to offer quite like Motocross Mountain.
Roughly a two hour drive northwest of Brisbane, Motocross Mountain in Queensland sits on more than 370 acres of mixed country including open forest, grassland and dry rainforest. It is a top spot if you want to work on your skills across different types of terrain.
There is a 30 kilometre enduro track, hill climb sections and flat sprint areas. Beginners should start on the easy track before moving on to the two proper motocross courses. It is basic camping only but that just adds to the old school feel when you are out with mates.
ACUSA Park, South Australia
ACUSA Park in South Australia is where the SA Off-Road Championship happens, so the tracks are properly sorted. The enduro loop flows well and there are two motocross tracks with natural jumps and obstacles. They also redesigned another dirt track recently so both new and experienced riders can have a good time.
The staff are helpful, there are toilets and a canteen, plus medical support if needed. It is an easy spot for a solid day or weekend ride.
Ride Park, Victoria
Naturally, as a motorcycle parts store based in Dandenong, we had to do some Victorian representation, and we feel like this is an excellent choice for our home state.
Ride Park in Victoria stands out because of the volcanic soil they use. It gives excellent grip and the tracks get groomed regularly so they stay in good shape. However, outside of the specifics of its soil, the trail is just a fantastic ride for anyone looking to get out in the sun and have a fantastic few days with friends on the trails.
You will find prepared sections as well as areas with small jumps. It is popular with newer riders which is why they have a full time medical officer and a proper first aid setup. A safe place to push yourself and improve.
Staying Safe on the Tracks
The most important thing is to ride within your limits and always wear proper gear. A good helmet, boots, gloves and protective clothing make a big difference. It is worth choosing parks that have medical staff on site, especially if you are trying new things.
Useful Dirt Bike Accessories
For longer rides a luggage plate is one of the best additions you can make. It keeps your gear secure and the right one for your bike model is easy to fit with the adaptor that usually comes with it. Other handy items include handguards and a bash plate depending on the type of riding you do.
Test the track first and then work out what will help you next time.
Get Out and Ride
