As the name suggests, an air filter stops any unwanted particles, including dirt and dust from being able to enter your engine. In a lot of cases, they are made out of a foam-like material, but it is possible for you to find them made out of a huge range of materials. If you do not clean or change out your air filter on a regular basis, then you may find that dirt and dust builds up and that your engine doesn’t get the clean air that it ultimately requires.
